Small Group Projects: Helping Others Be Prepared
We are calling on our small groups to adopt widows, single moms, elderly couples and/or special needs families (“friends”) as their CHLB projects in 2024. And we are going to make it very easy for you to help them! If you are part of an existing small group, get your folks organized. If not, we are encouraging you to put together a small group just for CHLB.
Grace Fellowship will provide a “Be Prepared” kit for each “friend.” This kit includes items they may need for situations that come up in their home (i.e., a lantern if the power goes out, a fake rock to hold a key if they get locked out, covers for their outside faucets in a freeze, bleach/funnel for keeping their AC line clear, a water sensor system to catch leaks, a fire blanket and fire extinguisher for stopping a fire, new batteries for their smoke alarms, a CO detector, tools needed to turn off gas and water in case of emergency and more). We have purchased all the materials for this kit and will provide instructions. We will also provide a questionnaire to help you uncover other opportunities where you can help your adopted “friend” with the additional $350 budget that is available to your group for each of these projects.
Do you know someone in your neighborhood or social circle that could use this support? If yes, use the sign-up form to both nominate and volunteer to adopt them on the CHLB24 Be Prepared form. You can also nominate someone using this form, even if you can’t adopt them. Or if you want to participate but don’t have anyone to adopt, you can volunteer, again using the same form (see the link below), and then we will match you with a nominated candidate. Once we have your registration we will be in touch with more details and timing options for a training session.
